Syarifudin Paware is a legal practitioner specializing in Constitutional Law, with a particular focus on electoral law and state institutional governance. He earned his Bachelor of Laws degree from the Faculty of Sharia and Law at UIN Sunan Kalijaga and subsequently pursued a Master of Laws degree at the Faculty of Law of Universitas Gadjah Mada, establishing a strong academic foundation in understanding the dynamics of Indonesia’s constitutional and governmental legal system.
Throughout his academic career, his research primarily concentrated on electoral law issues, particularly concerning the authority and institutional role of the General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) within Indonesia’s constitutional framework. This focus is reflected in his undergraduate thesis, master’s thesis, as well as various academic papers and journal publications discussing the strengthening of electoral oversight functions, electoral dispute resolution, and institutional relations among election management bodies.
In professional practice, he has served in strategic legal capacities as counsel representing five Regional General Election Commissions (KPU Kabupaten) in the 2024 Regional Head Election (Pilkada) disputes before the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia. This involvement provided him with direct experience in handling complex constitutional litigation, particularly in disputes concerning regional election results.
Despite his experience in constitutional litigation, he is widely recognized for his expertise and primary focus on non-litigation approaches. In practice, he actively provides legal assistance through regulatory analysis, legal opinions, institutional consultation, and preventive legal strategies, particularly within the governmental and electoral sectors.
His professional approach emphasizes comprehensive legal analysis, a profound understanding of constitutional governance, and preventive as well as strategic solutions aimed at minimizing legal risks for clients.
